Yanado 2 As a black man how has your experience in Korea been? 

왜냐하면/오명(안좋은 인식)/전반적으로/고정관념/ ~ 내내/경향이 있다/반면에/현실/장벽/인사

cuz=cause/stigma/overall/stereotype/throughout/tend to/where/actuality/

barrier/greeting

 

 

Q1. 흑인으로서 한국에서의 경험이 어땠나요?

잘 지내고 있는 것 같아요. 95% 정도는 좋은 사람들을 경험했어요.

나머지 5%는 꽤 나빠요. 흑인에 대한 안 좋은 인식 때문에 그래요.

사람들이 영화나 TV 를 보고 갖는 고정관념이 음.. 세상에 모든 흑인 또는 

한국에 있는 흑인들이 그럴 것이라고 생각하는 경향이 있어요. 

가끔 저를 쳐다보면서 안돼~ 넌 나쁜 사람이야 라는 시선을 받아요.

실제로 저는 좋은 사람인데 말이죠.

가끔 저는 미소와 함께 인사하며 그 벽을 깨려고 해요.

 

 

 

Q1. As a black man how has your experience in Korea been?

 

It’s been going.. um.. it’s going well I would say 95.. 95 percent of the time uhm.. 

I’ve experienced very nice people uhm..

The other 5 percent is pretty bad cuz um.. the stigma of a black person here, you know.

 

And the overall stereotypes of what they see throughout the movies or any TV shows

um.. tend to be like every black man in Korea or every black man in the world so..

 

Sometimes you get that.. that one eye looking at.. looking at me saying that 

no~ you’re a bad guy where in all actuality, I’m a nice person so..

 

Sometimes I try to break that barrier. Uh.. with a smile or a good greeting.
